The 28th annual 2008 Souhrada Family Reunion

Make this a mini-vacation! Come early --on Friday the 15th and enjoy “Live Till 9” as a live band plays in the park near the Cedar River. This is a great family activity for kids from 4 to 94!! We’ll provide lawn chairs so you can visit with family & friends, enjoy a hot dog and coke or a beer, and have lots of fun.

On Saturday do your thing -- visit the Amish community; splash away at a water park; play some golf; paint a symphony; check out the barn quilts; take a hike; catch a movie; or hang out at the hotel. Enjoy!  Saturday evening, the Souhrada Reunion activities begin with an informal chili supper. All the reunion activities will be held at the Comfort Suites in Cedar Falls. We have the meeting room reserved for both Saturday and Sunday. And wait until you see the awesome “zero entry” pool area – and the sumptuous guest rooms! We’re sure you’ll absolutely love it!  >> Make your reservations by Sat., July 26 to get a room at the special “Souhrada Reunion” rate.

NOTE: Please bring or send items you have knitted, grown in your garden, baked, carved, photographed, etc. for our auction. Or bring an item you no longer need (or want) but someone else may. It’s a fun way to raise money to help cover the cost of our reunions, postage, and kolaches!!!

Directions to the Comfort Suites Hotel…

From the east or west:
Hwy 20 – Take exit #225 north off Hwy 20. At the first stoplight, turn left (west) on W. Ridgeway, then right on Nordic, and right again into the Comfort Suites parking area.

From the south:
Hwy 380 -- Drive north to 4-lane Hwy 20 west. Take exit #225 north off Hwy 20. At the first stoplight, turn left (west) on W. Ridgeway, then right on Nordic, and right again into the Comfort Suites parking area.

From the north:
Hwy 218 -- Drive south into Cedar Falls on 218/27. Continue straight through Cedar Falls on 27/58 (when Hwy 218 turns off to Waterloo). At the third stoplight, turn right (west) on W. Ridgeway Ave., then right on Nordic, and right again into the Comfort Suites parking area.

Hwy 63 -- Drive south toward Waterloo. Turn right (west) on Co. Road C-57 and go about 7 miles to 4-lane Hwy 218/27. Turn left (south) onto Hwy 218/27; continue straight through Cedar Falls on 27/58 (when Hwy 218 turns off to Waterloo). At the third stoplight, turn right (west) on W. Ridgeway Ave., then right on Nordic, and right again into the Comfort Suites parking area.

2 water parks - The Falls Aquatic Center is about 5 minutes away; Lost Island Water Park is about a 15-minute drive.
Amish country  - The rural areas about 45 minutes northeast of Cedar Falls make a delightful day trip of the Amish community, with stops at their quaint little stores making it all the more fun. Maps available.
Phelps Youth Pavilion - This NEW facility opened in April 2008 – with amazing exhibits and activities to foster interest in the arts. It’s a must-see opportunity for children of any age!
Golfing - Choose from four 18-hole golf courses within 15 minutes of our hotel.
Hiking & biking trails - Maps are available to guide you.
George Wyth State Park - This great little state park is only about 10 minutes away, with camping, fishing, trails, etc. in a lovely wooded setting.
Isle of Capri Casino - Feeling lucky? Test your skill at this new casino, located about 15 minutes away, next to Lost Island Water Park.
Barn Quilts of Grundy County - There are over 50 “Barn Quilts” in neigh-boring Grundy county. These are large quilt pieces painted on old barns or out-buildings to celebrate the character of rural America. Maps available.
