Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Thanks to Barb Erickson, Janel Stephens, and Elizabeth Vanicek Jarvis …this year’s hosts

After a one-year hiatus, we are reuniting and hope that you are able to join us!

Mark your calendar for Saturday August 6th!!

 RSVP by July 28th please

We are moving our meeting date and dinner to a Saturday this year and hope that you can stay over in Cedar Rapids to enjoy many of the wonderful opportunities that the city has to offer and especially the Czech Village area.

As this year’s reunion is being held in the Historic St Wenceslaus church' Parish Center, we have reserved blocks of rooms at a group rate in two hotels so you have the choice of being closer to the Czech Village, OR if you require more space, a hotel with larger rooms for families is reserved as well but it is just a little farther away from the reunion activity but still within easy access to the Czech Village and New Bohemia District

The Residence Inn SW is a brand new hotel opening in May, a closer drive to the Czech Village area… Please mention Souhrada Reunion and make reservations by July 11th. Rooms are $109.00 for a studio Suite. These rooms do not have two beds but do have sofa pullout beds.

These rates will be available for longer stays as long as there is availability so please reserve your rooms as soon as possible.

The Glovik Parish Center will be available at 1:00 to gather and visit if you wish to come early. We will have wine/beverages and coffee.  We encourage you to be at the Glovik Parish Center between 2:00-3:00 so we can have plenty of time to register and visit before dinner. The catered dinner with 2 entrees and sides/beverages/dessert will be at 5:00p.m. The price is $15.00 per person. $10.00 for children. Under 5 free.

Lunch will be on your own before coming to the reunion on Saturday. We are hoping that you can enjoy some of the Czech flavor in the Czech Village and New Bohemia District. A visit there is encouraged Saturday morning and early afternoon or Sunday. There is a Czech stand in the New Bo Market that serves very good open faced sandwiches and soups and kolaches. The owner is from the Czech Republic. There are many other options in the market and surrounding area.

The National Czech- Slovak Museum and library is a must visit while in Cedar Rapids. There is an Andy Warhol exhibit and Warhol birthday celebration on the 6th with free admission Saturday all day. You will have time Saturday morning to visit the museum before the reunion.

Saturday hours are 9:30- 4:00.

Sunday hours for the Museum are 12:00-4:00 with an entrance fee.

The NewBo Market in Czech Village is a wonderful stop on Saturday morning (also open Sunday 10-4:00) (with a very wide variety of choices there to eat lunch and shop) as well as the Sykora Bakery, antique shops, Lion Bridge brewery, Czech Cottage Import Shop
