Marketta Dietz Souhrada celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014.  The party was held at her son, Darrell Souhrada Jr.’s farm near Saratoga, Iowa.  She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many close family members and friends.  She enjoyed an antique tractor and hayride through the countryside, a potluck and many warm wishes.

Marketta presently resides in Riceville, Iowa. 

Her husband, Darrell Souhrada, Sr., passed away during a car accident in 1971.  She is active in her church and community activities.  She loves picking raspberries, studying birds and raising plants.  She enjoys making cookies for her loved ones so much that her great-grandchildren call her “Cookie Grandma”.
