Both the Saturday evening social and Sunday’s dinner were held in the hotel meeting room. Cherie and Dave Souhrada were this year’s hosts, and their hard work in getting this event organized was greatly appreciated. Great job!! 50 people attended this year’s event. Our host families provided a terrific chili dinner and numerous kolaches on Saturday evening. On Sunday the guests were treated to a delicious buffet dinner and scrumptious pies for desert. The business meeting was conducted by Dave and Cherie Souhrada. Dave Souhrada and Dave Stephens were our auctioneers this year. It was a great success and fun for all. This year’s business meeting was preceded by the sad news of the passing of several Souhrada family members, including: Ella (Vavroch) Douda of Cedar Rapids IA, daughter of Jerry and Rose (Souhrada) Vavroch Ronald C. Anderson of Rochester, MN, son of John and Gertrude (Heide) Rassman Linda Hemann of Greenwood, WI, daughter of Marvin and Marlys (Souhrada) Gronwoldt Bob Souhrada of Columbia Falls, MT son of Vladamir “Frank" and Violet (McMillan) Souhrada George Souhrada of Maple Heights, OH, son of Josef and Mary (Kuba) Souhrada Nancy (Goodbrand) Rassman, daughter of Stanley and Kathleen (Murphy) Goodbrand, wife of Dennis Rassman Janel Stephens mentioned that as a result of this year’s severe flooding in Iowa, the Czech & Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids had sustained significant damage. The museum is accepting donations to assist in the restoration. The National Czech and Slovak Museum under water Pete Souhrada provided an update on the Souhrada family website and reminded everyone to send pictures, stories, memoirs, or any other materials that Souhrada family members would like to share with others through the website. You can email Pete by clicking here. The Flynn family will be hosting the 2009 reunion in Davenport Iowa on August 15 and 16, 2009. We hope to see everyone there!
