Come
early for a mini vacation in the Quad Cities. Lots to do right near the
Hotel:
- The Mississippi Valley Fair.
This fair is probably the 2nd largest fair next to the State Fair in Des
Moines. There is a different grandstand act each night. All acts are
nationally known venues with an emphasis on country music with a rock show
usually on Friday night.
- The Stoney
Creek Inn is a lovely hotel right on the Mississippi River, just off the
I-74 bridge. It is a short 2 block walk to the John Deere Pavilion, a first
class, (Free), hands on, climb on museum of tractors, combines and all
things John Deere. Children and adults of all ages will enjoy!
- The Channel
Cat Water Taxi is also about a 2 block walk from the hotel, where you can
get on and off (or just stay on) all day long for about 6 dollars. It travels
on the river (room for about 30 people) making stops at the Isle of Capri
Casino, the Village of East Davenport with many quaint shops and restaurants,
and the Moline Parkway with a bike/walk path that meanders right next to the
ole Mississippi. The Flynn's could hook you up with bikes if you are
interested, but the ride in the water taxi itself is very enjoyable!
Recommended!!
- Cross back into Iowa and head up river to the wonderful town of
LeClaire. Visit Antique
Archeology where the American Pickers TV show originated. Many nice shops
in LeClaire as well.
- The Bix Beiderbecke
Jazz Festival will be going on Saturday night late across the
river in Davenport, Iowa... World class Dixieland Jazz.
- Fabulous Farmer's Market across the river in Davenport Saturday
morning. Right on the Riverfront. 8:00 - 1:00; It's wonderful!!
It's got everything!
Come early and enjoy a
weekend in the Quad Cities. We look forward to seeing you and renewing
acquaintances with all of you!
