The 35th Souhrada Family Reunion Saturday, August 6th, 2016 Thanks to Barb Erickson, Janel Stephens, and Elizabeth Vanicek Jarvis …this year’s hosts After a one-year hiatus, we are
reuniting and hope that you are able to join us! We are moving our meeting date and dinner to a Saturday this year and hope that you can stay over in Cedar Rapids to enjoy many of the wonderful opportunities that the city has to offer and especially the Czech Village area.
The Residence Inn SW is a brand new hotel opening in May, a closer drive to the Czech Village area… Please mention Souhrada Reunion and make reservations by July 11th. The other hotel is Comfort Inn and Suites. They have single king and 2 queens available for 94.99. They will also have King Suite and 2 Queen beds Suites for 114.99 if you have a larger group or just want more space. Again, mention Souhrada Reunion when making reservations. Both hotels have free breakfast and a pool.
These rates will be available for longer stays as long as there is availability so please reserve your rooms as soon as possible.
The Glovik Parish Center will be available at 1:00 to gather and visit if you wish to come early. We will have wine/beverages and coffee. We encourage you to be at the Glovik Parish Center between 2:00-3:00 so we can have plenty of time to register and visit before dinner. The catered dinner with 2 entrees and sides/beverages/dessert will be at 5:00p.m. The price is $15.00 per person. $10.00 for children. Under 5 free.
The National Czech- Slovak Museum and library is a must visit while in Cedar Rapids. There is an Andy Warhol exhibit and Warhol birthday celebration on the 6th with free admission Saturday all day. You will have time Saturday morning to visit the museum before the reunion. Saturday hours are 9:30- 4:00.
Sunday hours for the Museum are 12:00-4:00 with an entrance fee.
The NewBo Market in Czech Village is a wonderful stop on Saturday morning (also open Sunday 10-4:00) (with a very wide variety of choices there to eat lunch and shop) as well as the Sykora Bakery, antique shops, Lion Bridge brewery, Czech Cottage Import Shop all in the Czech Village along with many restaurants and retail in the New Bohemia District. There are places to ride bikes if you are interested in that as well.

a.m. hours - on your own visiting Czech Village, National Czech Slovak Museum and Library, places of choice lunch on your own
1:00pm reunion room open for gathering, snacks
2:00-3:00pm official gathering- register renew acquaintances, pictures, genealogy, Czech craft
5:00pm catered dinner- 15.00 per person 10.00 per child, under 5 free- can pay when you arrive
Auction to follow dinner, bring something to auction or a donation for the reunion expenses is welcomed and encouraged. 7:00-10:00pm visiting, board games if desired, snacks
Sunday breakfast served for those staying at the Residence Inn or the Comfort Inn. Sunday, you are encouraged to continue your visit in Cedar Rapids and meet up with family members who are staying overnight.
